Welcome to the Sustainable Health Ecology Lab’s website! We are a group of parasite ecologists who work on applied projects related to conserving natural resources and/or improving human health. Our group uses diverse methods—field surveys, mathematically modeling, systematic literature reviews, wildlife dissections, laboratory and mesocosm experiments—to quantify parasite biodiversity and understand how parasites are maintained in complex socio-ecological systems. Our goal is often to control parasites and pathogens that negatively impact wildlife, domestic species, or people. To learn more about our team and the research that we do, explore the other pages in the menu. If you are interested in collaborating with our lab or becoming a new SHEL team member, please check out the prospective lab member page and contact Skylar.
